Antonia (wife of Marcus Antonius)
Antonia (* around 73 BC) was a daughter of the Roman consul from 63 BC. BC, Gaius Antonius Hybrida , and the wife of her cousin Marcus Antonius , who would later become a member of the Second Triumvirate .
It is possible that Antonia was only the second wife of Antonius, as, according to the assertion of his bitter opponent, Marcus Tullius Cicero , his first marriage was to a Fadia , the daughter of the freedman Quintus Fadius Gallus . It is not known when Antonia and Antonius married; in research, the time of their marriage is often estimated to be around 53/52 BC. BC. From the marriage, about which nothing else is known, a daughter Antonia was born. He was betrothed to the son of the later triumvir Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and about seven years later was married to the rich Asian Pythodorus von Tralleis . Around 47 BC Chr. Antonius divorced his wife Antonia, accusing her of having committed adultery with the tribune Publius Cornelius Dolabella . Antony's next wife was Fulvia . Nothing is known about Antonia's further life.
