Antonia Reininghaus

Antonia Reininghaus (* 1954 in Graz ; † October 2006 there ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

Antonia Reininghaus came from the Styrian entrepreneurial family Reininghaus . Her sister Mariella Reininghaus was engaged to Niki Lauda at the time .

Although she had left drama school early, director Bernhard Wicki gave her her first film role in The Conquest of the Citadel . Before that, she had already celebrated successes at the Graz Schauspielhaus , including in What happened after Nora had left her husband or supporting the companies of Elfriede Jelinek , with whom she was also friends.

In the early 1980s Antonia Reininghaus was in a relationship with the German actor Jürgen Prochnow , whom she met in 1978 while filming.

On November 4, 1980 daughter Johanna was born. Reininghaus poisoned their seven-year-old daughter in November 1987 and then attempted suicide . Due to a psychiatric report, she did not have to serve a prison sentence. She then lived in seclusion and died in October 2006 at the age of 52 in her apartment. Her death went undetected for two weeks.
