Paul Stotz
Paul Stotz (born May 6, 1850 in Wasseralfingen ; † September 3, 1899 at the Veitenhof in Kaisertal near Kufstein ) was a German art foundryman in Stuttgart.
Life
Stotz attended the Polytechnic and the Architectural College from 1866 to 1867 and the applied arts school in Stuttgart with Karl Kopp - his uncle - who worked as a sculptor in Stuttgart. He then worked as a draftsman and modeler in his father's iron foundry. In 1873 he moved to Vienna, where he worked as a chaser in the Hollenbach bronze foundry.
From 1876 Paul Stotz headed the newly established arts and crafts department of Albert Stotz 's father's iron foundry . The department traded under the name Bronce-Waaren-Fabrik A. Stotz, Stuttgart at lower Neckarstrasse 134. The production program included furnishings, lighting fixtures, busts, statuettes, grave monuments and fittings. In 1882 the department was transferred to Paul Stotz alone and built a new factory building as Paul Stotz & Co. at Neckarstrasse 142. He successfully expanded the production program to include electrical lighting fixtures and cooking and heating equipment. In 1891 the Paul Stotz Kunstgewerbliche Werkstätte GmbH was founded. After the death of Paul Stotz, the architect Oskar Dedreux ran the business until the merger with the Otto Schlee company in Biberach took place in 1906. In 1918 the name was changed to Metallwerke vorm. Paul Stotz and in 1923 in Werkhaus Neckarstraße GmbH , which existed until 1932.
