Gussenstadt is a suburb of the Gerstetten municipality in the Heidenheim district in Baden-Württemberg .
The place is west of Gerstetten, the main town of the municipality.
history
The first documentary mention is in a document from Bishop Walter von Augsburg from 1143, in which the possessions of the Anhausen an der Brenz monastery are confirmed.
On July 1, 1971, Gussenstadt was incorporated into Gerstetten.
church
Michaelskirche was built around 1150, extended in 1446 and expanded to its present size in 1691. It is one of the rare testimonies that the Protestant Church in the late 17th and early 18th centuries was by no means averse to art. Another special feature is that it was built as a granary church.

Kaiser Wilhelm I monument
The bust monument for Kaiser Wilhelm I on the memorial square on the Kaiserlinde was ceremoniously unveiled on July 16, 1899 in the presence of the founder, businessman Valentin Thierer from Mannheim, born in Gussenstadt. The bust of the emperor rises on a stepped substructure and a granite pedestal tapering in the upper part , in front of which there is an eagle with spread wings.
The relief medallions by Bismarck and Moltke are attached to the left and right of the base. An inscription plaque on the back gives the names of all war participants from 1870/71 in the community of Gussenstadt.
The memorial goes back to a design by the Stuttgart building councilor Karl Weigele ; the construction management was incumbent on the architect Heinrich Nagel from Gussenstadt. The bust of the emperor is the work of the Karlsruhe sculptor Hermann Volz , all metal parts were cast in bronze in Paul Stotz's foundry in Stuttgart.
The total cost of the monument was around 7,000 marks.
