Otto Rieth (architect)
Otto Rieth (born June 9, 1858 in Stuttgart ; † September 10, 1911 there ) was a German architect who was also active as a painter and sculptor .
Career
First Rieth studied at the Technical University of Stuttgart under Christian Friedrich von Leins and Robert von Reinhardt , then with Paul Wallot in Frankfurt am Main, to whom he assisted in the construction of the Berlin Reichstag building from 1883 to 1896. In October 1891, Rieth made a name for himself among architects with the publication of his architectural sketches, a portfolio with a total of 4 volumes of 120 drawings. These met with a great response in the specialist press. After his time at Wallot, Otto Rieth settled in Berlin as a freelance architect . He was best known for his villa buildings in the neo-baroque style and his monumental monument designs. From 1894 he taught at the teaching establishment of the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin , from 1897 to 1910 as a professor .
