Wilhelm Widemann
Wilhelm Widemann (born October 28, 1856 in Schwäbisch Gmünd , † September 4, 1915 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor , metal sculptor and medalist .
Life
Wilhelm Widemann was born on October 28, 1856 in Schwäbisch Gmünd. After an apprenticeship in goldsmithing , he was employed by Ferdinand von Miller at the royal ore foundry in Munich from 1875 to 1877 . This activity was followed by a stay in Rome from 1877 to 1883. From 1884 to 1891 Widemann taught chasing work at the Frankfurt School of Applied Arts . From 1891 he lived and worked in Berlin.
Widemann made building sculptures on various public buildings in Berlin. He also designed figures for the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin and for Crown Prince Silver, a gift from the Prussian cities for the wedding of Crown Prince Wilhelm and Cecilie von Mecklenburg-Schwerin .
Wilhelm Widemann was an honorary citizen of his native Schwäbisch Gmünd. He died on September 4, 1915 in Berlin. His grave is buried in the Leonhard cemetery in Schwäbisch Gmünd.

- Angel sculpture made of copper on the dome of the Berlin Cathedral in Berlin
- 1897–1904: Allegories of the arts and famous art cities at the Kaiser Friedrich Museum ( Bode Museum ) in Berlin
- 1898: Two Emperor Monument ( Kaiser Friedrich and Kaiser Wilhelm I ) in Guben
- 1900–1904: Participation in the architectural sculpture of the palace of the Reichstag President in Berlin
- 1904–1905: Contribution to the Crown Prince Silver
- 1906: Figure group Religion and Justice in the monumental stairwell of the Moabit Criminal Court in Berlin
- In 1907, various Widemann plaques were shown at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition .
