Antonie Graf

Antonie Graf (born April 20, 1845 in Vienna ; † February 23, 1929 there ) was an Austrian journalist and athlete.

The daughter of a doctor who died when she was born was trained as a teacher by the Ursulines and ran a girls' school that belonged to her until 1870. She had four sons with her husband, the businessman and journalist Moritz Graf. Antonie Graf began to write in the Wiener Hausfrauen-Zeitung under the pseudonym AS Machold, her maiden name, and later published sketches, essays and book reviews in the “Wiener Literatur-Zeitung”. Graf was co-founder of the charitable association “Ferienheim” in Vienna and founded the Vienna women's swimming club “Austria” in 1894 from which the Vienna Sports Club emerged in 1908 , from which she merged with the Vienna Cricket and Football Club in 1922 , most recently with her son Felix Graf , Board. On behalf of the Federation of Austrian Women's Associations , in 1912 she published a “Guide to choosing a career for girls leaving school” and an “Overview of the educational institutions of the female population of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy”.
