Antonio Albacete (born January 15, 1965 in Madrid ) is a Spanish racing car driver .

Career

Albacete began his karting career and was runner-up in Spain three times in a row from 1979 to 1981. In 1981 he also competed in automobile racing and in 1982 won the championship title in the Iberian Formula Fiesta. The following year he was fifth in the Formula Ford World Championship, and then competed in Formula Ford 2000. In 1986 he won the title in the Spanish Formula Ford Championship, in 1989 he drove a season in the Formula 3000 on Lola for the GA Motorsports team. In 1988 he started in the Formula Opel Lotus , a year later in the British Formula 3000. In 1990 he won class 2 of the Spanish touring car championship in a Toyota Corolla . The following year he won the title again and was also champion in the Spanish Formula Renault . In 1992 he again won class 2 of the Spanish touring car championship with a Fiat Tipo , and in 1993 he was runner-up in class 1 with a BMW M3 .

From 1994 to 1996 he drove for Opel , BMW and Alfa Romeo in the Spanish touring car championship, in 1996 he was runner-up in the Supercopa Citroën ZX . In 1997 Antonio Albacete drove his first season in the European Truck Racing Championship . In the 2005 season Albacete won his first title there, he became champion in the race truck class. After the second truck class was eliminated, he won the first title of the now single-track European Truck Championship in 2006. In 2010 he was able to repeat this success. Albacete won all titles with the CEPSA-MAN team.
