Antonio Barezzi (born December 23, 1787 in Busseto ; † July 21, 1867 there ) was an Italian merchant. He was the discoverer, patron and father-in-law of the composer Giuseppe Verdi .

Antonio Barezzi was the owner of a major grocery and liquor store in Busseto . He promoted the musical and cultural life of his small town. His house became the seat of the Busseto Philharmonic Orchestra. At the age of ten, the young Giuseppe Verdi showed his art there to the local audience. As a patron, Barezzi encouraged the young musician to the best of his ability and made it possible for him to attend high school. Thanks to his help, Verdi was able to move to Milan in 1832 to deepen and perfect his musical studies.

In 1836 Verdi married Margherita Barezzi, the daughter of his patron, who gave birth to his daughter Virginia (1837-1838) and son Icilio (1838-1839). Verdi's first wife died in 1840.

Antonio Barezzi died in Busseto in 1867 at the age of 79. His house, which has been preserved, has served as a museum since 2001. A local music festival now bears his name.
