Antonio José Verdú Cermak , better known as Antonio Cermeño (born March 6, 1969 in Río Chico , State of Miranda , † February 25, 2014 in Caucagua , Miranda) was a professional boxer from Venezuela . He was a WBA super bantamweight and featherweight champion throughout his career .

He started professional boxing in 1990 and played 22 fights by 1995, of which he won 21. He also defeated Manuel Vilchez (22-3) and Ramon Guzman (20-2). In August 1993 he won the Fedelatin super bantamweight title of the WBA. In May 1995 he secured himself in Puerto Rico by winning points against Wilfredo Vázquez (42-6), the world title of the WBA in super bantamweight. He then won against Jesus Salud (50-6), Yober Ortega (21-1), Eddy Saenz (15-2), Ángel Chacón (23-0), José Rojas (10-3) and twice against the Japanese Yuichi Kasai (24-2, 24-3) defend before resigning and moving to featherweight.

In April 1998 he failed in the fight for the WBA world title in this weight class on points against Freddie Norwood (29-0). In February 1999 he was able to box again for the title and defeated the new title holder Eddy Saenz (17-4) by knockout in the second round, but lost the belt in the first defense fight in May 1999 again on points to Freddie Norwood ( 34-0).

He then played 14 more fights with ten wins and four losses. He defeated, among others, Yober Ortega (28-2) again and won the Fedelatin and Fedebol titles of the WBA. He fought his last fight in September 2006.

After his career he got involved in youth work and supported, among other things, a WBA campaign against drugs. In February 2014 he was kidnapped in a suburb of Caracas and later shot.
