Freddie Norwood

Freddie Norwood (* 14. February 1970 in St. Louis , USA ) is a retired American boxer in the featherweight . He was trained by Kenny Adams .

He was unbeaten when he captured the vacant WBA world championship belt on April 3, 1998 with a unanimous victory over Antonio Cermeño on points . Just two months later he was defending the title against Luis Mendoza .

At the end of May 1999 he won this now vacant belt again when he again defeated Cermeno on points. In September of the following year he lost the title to Derrick Gainer by technical knockout. In 2011 he ended his career.
