Derrick Gainer
Derrick Gainer (* 22. August 1972 in Pensacola , Florida , USA ) is a retired American boxer in the featherweight . He was trained by Alton Merkerson .

On July 14, 1990, he successfully made his professional debut. In September 2000 he became World Champion of the WBA when he defeated his compatriot Freddie Norwood by technical knockout in round 11. He defended this title three times and lost it on November 1, 2003 against the Mexican Juan Manuel Márquez by "technical decision" in round 7. In 2012 he ended his career.
