Antonio Dall'Occa

Antonio Dall'Occa (born June 1, 1763 in Bologna , † September 17, 1846 in Florence ) was an Italian double bass virtuoso.

His teacher is said to have been the famous violinist Antonio Lolli , who is considered a model for Paganini . Like his contemporary Domenico Dragonetti , Dall'Occa sought his fortune abroad and was employed by the court orchestra in St. Petersburg. From there he went on numerous art trips across Europe. His style was mainly characterized by the use of natural and artificial flageolet tones , which he strongly polarized his audience and the press.
