Antonio Fassina (born July 26, 1945 in Valdobbiadene ) is a former Italian rally driver and entrepreneur who competed in his rallies under the pseudonym Tony .

Career in motorsport

Antonio Fassina contested his rallies in the 1970s and 1980s and was particularly successful at racing events in Italy. In 1976 and 1979 he won the overall ranking of the Italian rally championship on a Lancia Stratos HF . In 1981 he won this championship again: this time at the wheel of an Opel Ascona . A year later he secured the overall ranking of the European Rally Championship .

In the World Rally Championship he was only at the start five times, and this exclusively at the San Remo Rally between 1976 and 1981. His appearances there were very successful. In 1979, he won on a Lancia Stratos Scuderia Jolly Club before Walter Röhrl and Attilio Bettega , the plant - Fiat 131 Abarth drove. In 1977 and 1981 he was third. In his five starts, he achieved 28 special stage best times.

Entrepreneur

After the end of his racing career, he opened the Fassina Group, an automobile workshop and manufacturer representation, in Milan . Today the company is one of the largest of its kind in northern Italy and sells models from the Fiat Group and Audi as well as exclusive vehicles from Ferrari , Infiniti and McLaren .
