Antonio Guadagnoli

Antonio Guadagnoli (pronounced: guadánjoli), (* 1798 in Arezzo ; † February 21, 1858 in Cortona ) was an Italian lyric poet of the cheerful genre.

Although he came from a patrician family, he spent his youth in poor circumstances without losing his innate cheerful mood. His poems, some of which, such as Il naso , La ciarla , L'abito , La lingua di una donna, are considered examples of their kind, are not lacking in lively wit without the satire appearing hurtful in them. In his closer homeland Toscana , Guadagnoli enjoyed an extraordinary popularity. His Raccolta di poesie giocose ( Florence 1838) has been published many times. Later published: Raccolta completa delle poesie giocose edite ed inedite ( Milan 1872, lastly 1880).
