Antonio Hurtado

Antonio Miguel Hurtado Gutierrez (born October 13, 1959 in Puertollano ) is a Spanish energy technician who lives and works in Germany. Since 2007 he has held the professorship for hydrogen and nuclear energy technology at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

Antonio Hurtado spent his childhood in Spain and came to Germany in early adolescence, where his parents lived as guest workers . He grew up in Duisburg , finished school with a middle school leaving certificate and completed an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman from 1975 to 1978. Hurtado graduated from night school the secondary school and studied until 1986 at the Gerhard-Mercator University Duisburg engineering. He then worked for two years as a development engineer at Mannesmann / Demag and, from 1988, he was employed at the Professorship for Reactor Safety and Technology at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen . He received his doctorate in 1990 at RWTH Aachen University on the subject of investigations into massive air ingress in high-temperature reactors and also completed his habilitation here in 1996 with the title of investigations into innovative concepts in nuclear technology . Then Hurtado went into business: Among other things, he was managing director of the Berlin city cleaning company ; from 2005 to 2007 he was managing director of Alliander in Germany.

Hurtado has been Professor of Hydrogen and Nuclear Energy Technology at the Technical University of Dresden since 2007 and has headed the Institute for Energy Technology at TUD since 2009. From April 2017 to August 2020 he was Vice-Rector for University Development in the Rectorate of TUD.

In 2003, Hurtado became a voluntary member of the supervisory board of 1. FC Union Berlin and in April 2004 became chairman of the supervisory board. During his time at Union Berlin the financial restructuring of the club, the renovation of the stadium An der Alten Försterei and the rise of the club from the upper league via the regional league to the second division. Hurtado “took over responsibility for 1. FC Union Berlin in an existential crisis. As chairman of the supervisory board, he helped initiate and shape the positive development of the association, ”said Union President Dirk Zingler in 2012. In March 2012, he resigned from his position; In February 2013 the association awarded him the gold badge of honor.

Hurtado is married and has three sons; he lives in Dresden and Berlin.
