Franz Wichards

Franz Wichards (born November 12, 1856 in Stettin ; † September 30, 1919 in Berlin ) was a German architect .

Life

Wichards studied architecture in Berlin and worked for Alfred Messel . In March 1881 he passed the building foreman examination in Berlin and was appointed government master builder in February 1886. Together with Hermann Solf (1856–1909), he led the architectural office Solf and Wichards in Berlin from 1890 . The projects carried out by this office include the Hallesches Tor elevated railway station , which went into operation in 1902, south of Belle-Alliance-Platz (now Mehringplatz ) on the Landwehr Canal, and the large administration building on Gitschiner Strasse, which is located just a little further to the east and was built for 1903-1905 Imperial Patent Office was built and today houses the Berlin offices of the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office .
