Antonio Pinilla Miranda (born February 25, 1971 in Badalona ) is a former Spanish football player who played for Gimnàstic de Tarragona in the Spanish Segunda División until 2008 .

Player career

Barcelona

Antonio Pinilla started his career at the Spanish top club FC Barcelona . From 1988 to 1991 he played for the Catalans' B team , then he made his professional debut for Barça in 1990. There, however, he was never able to assert himself due to the enormous competition in the much-cited “Dream Team” in the early 1990s. However, he celebrated his greatest successes with Barcelona. He achieved a championship title, a cup win and a Supercup win with the club.

He was then loaned to league rivals RCD Mallorca . There he was first used regularly with four hits in 21 games. At the end of the season, however, the Mallorcans rose from bottom of the table. The following year Pinilla was awarded again. That season he played for Albacete Balompié , also in the first division.

CD Tenerife

For CD Tenerife , Pinilla played a total of seven years as a striker. Among other things, he scored the first ever goal for Tenerife in a European competition when he scored against AJ Auxerre's French on September 15, 1993 . In a total of 130 games, he scored 30 times for the Canaries. Even if Tenerife was relegated in 98/99, Pinilla stayed in League 2 for another year. Pinilla also spent the 2000/01 season in the Segunda División , because he went to the second division UD Salamanca .

Gimnàstic Tarragona

In the summer of 2001 Pinilla returned to his Catalan homeland and went to the third division Gimnàstic de Tarragona . As a leading player, he led the club to a high altitude, which was crowned by two promotions (2003/04 in the Segunda División and 2005/2006 in the Primera División ). But after only a year Pinilla rose again with his club in the second division. So far, he has scored 33 times in 185 games. After all, after relegation, the 2-1 success in the final of the Copa Catalunya over the great arch-rivals FC Barcelona . After the 2007/08 season he ended his career with Gimnàstic Tarragona.

International

Even if Pinilla never played for the Spanish senior team, he won the gold medal with the Spanish U23 at the 1992 Olympic Games in his Catalan homeland.
