Antonio Zucchi
Antonio Zucchi (born May 1, 1726 in Venice ; died December 26, 1795 in Rome ) was an Italian classicist painter .
Life
Antonio Zucchi was a student of the painters Francesco Fontebasso and Jacopo Amigoni . Zucchi created a large number of etched engravings in the directions capriccio (cover sheet illustrations / figure fillings / landscapes) and vedute of classical buildings and ruins. He came to London around 1767 to work on the interiors of the architect Robert Adam and his brother James Adam in collaboration with Giovanni Battista Cipriani and Michelangelo Pergolesi and Angelika Kauffmann . In 1770, Zucchi was made a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in England .
Zucchi and the painter Angelika Kauffmann married in London in 1781. Together with Kauffmann's father Joseph Johann Kauffmann , who was also a painter, they first moved from London to Venice and after his death on to Rome.
Zucchi and Angelika Kauffmann were buried in the Roman church of Sant'Andrea delle Fratte .
