Antonio de Pereda
Antonio Pereda (* 1611 in Valladolid , † 1678 in Madrid ) was a Spanish painter .
Pereda was trained by Pedro de las Cuevas and learned from the paintings of Venetian masters in the castle of Madrid. He painted religious paintings, profane historical pictures and still lifes with great care and brilliance of color.
His main works include:
- the allegory : Life is a dream (in the Academy of San Fernando),
- a saint Jerome in the Prado Museum in Madrid ,
- a saint Ildefonso with the Madonna in the Louvre in Paris .
