history

The chapel was built in 1636 during the Thirty Years War in thanks for protection from an epidemic and consecrated to St. Anthony . Renewals, some with changes to the external dimensions, took place in 1850 and 1982.

In the two world wars the chapel was used for gatherings in the neighborhood of what was then Schloßstraße.

An old tradition was resumed years ago to celebrate a chapel festival on the patron's name day on January 17th.

In the event of deaths in the neighborhood, devotions are held in the chapel. The Antoniuskapelle is a station on the Way of the Cross of the parish of St. Andreas Korschenbroich .

The maintenance of the chapel is carried out by a chapel association and the rifle group “St. Antonius ”in conjunction with the local craftsmen.
