Antti Tuuri

Antti Tuuri (born October 1, 1944 in Kauhava ) is a Finnish writer and graduate engineer. In 1985 he received the Nordic Literature Prize for the novel Pohjanmaa and the Finlandia Prize in 1997 for the novel Lakeuden kutsu .

Antti Tuuri also worked as a librettist : he wrote the librettos for the operas Ameriikka (1992) and Isontaloon Antti (2000) by Atso Almila , both of which were performed at the Ilmajoki Opera Festival, and for the opera Sinapinsiemen (2000) by Kimmo Hakola , which was performed on August 2, 2001 at the Eloserenadi Chamber Music Festival.

Several of his works have been made into films, including Pohjanmaa (1988), Talvisota (German Winter War) (1989) , Ameriikan raitti (1990), Rukajärven tie (1999, film adaptation of Elämä Isänmaalle ) and Lakeuden kutsu (2000), which with several of the Finnish Jussi Film Awards.
