Antun Kovacic (born July 10, 1981 in Melbourne ) is an Australian football player .
Career
The defender began adulthood in 1999 with the Preston Lions in the Victorian Premier League (VPL) before moving to the National Soccer League for the Melbourne Knights in the summer of 2000 . By the time the league was discontinued at the end of the 2003/04 season, Kovacic completed 42 league games for the Knights and then continued his career with the Oakleigh Cannons in the VPL.
At the beginning of 2007 he was signed by Melbourne Victory to replace the injured Daniel Piorkowski for the last days of the 2006/07 A-League season and came to two appearances as a substitute during the regular season, when he won the championship in the play-offs. Laps, it was no longer used. After another season with Oakleigh, he moved within the VPL to Richmond SC in early 2008 , before he received a two-year contract in the summer of 2008 after a successful test training with A-League club Newcastle United Jets .
For a long time he did not play a role in the plans of coach Gary van Egmond for the Jets after he had problems with the intensity and the demands of the training units. Kovacic was only on the starting line-up on the last three match days, and he made six appearances this season. In March 2009, he signed a one-year contract with the Korean club Ulsan Hyundai Horang-i after a one-week trial training session after the Jets had signed three defenders for the new season: Ljubo Milicevic , Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Angelo Costanzo .
