Nikolai Topor-Stanley (born March 11, 1985 in Canberra ) is an Australian football player . The defender has been with the Western Sydney Wanderers since 2012 .

Club career

Topor-Stanley was born to a Mauritian father and mother with Polish and German ancestors.

He attended the Australian Institute of Sport for a year and then played in the New South Wales Premier League with Manly United and the Belconnen Blue Devils .

In the 2006/07 season, the defender was given short-term contracts by A-League club Sydney FC several times to represent Ruben Zadkovich and later Jacob Timpano . Because of the salary cap in the Australian league, however, he was not permanently signed by Sydney. He reached the playoffs with Sydney, but the team failed in the minor semifinals .

For the 2007/08 season Topor-Stanley signed a two-year contract with Perth Glory . In the first season he was named Perth Glory's Most Glorious Player , he was also voted Young Player of the Year and his teammates voted him Player of the Year.

In early 2009, he signed a two-year contract with Newcastle United Jets for the 2009/10 season .

In summer 2012 he moved to the newly founded league competitor Western Sydney Wanderers . With the Wanderers he was able to reach the Grand Final in the 2012/13 season and in the 2013/14 season , but failed first at the Central Coast Mariners and a year later at Brisbane Roar .

National team

Topor-Stanley took part with the Australian U-20 national team in the 2005 Junior World Cup in the Netherlands, but was not used in the preliminary round. With the Australian Olympic selection , he qualified for the 2008 Olympic tournament in China and was named to the final squad in July.

In March 2008, Topor Stanley made his debut in a friendly against Singapore in the Australian senior team .
