Sheikh Anwar al-Balkimi ( Arabic أنور البلكيمي, DMG Anwar al-Balkīmī ) is an Egyptian politician . He was elected to the Egyptian People's Assembly in the 2011/2012 parliamentary elections as a member of the Party of Light ( Hizb al-Nur ) and resigned in March 2012 in the face of impending party exclusion proceedings.

Al-Balkimi was elected to the people's assembly in constituency IV Menouf - Sadat City - Sars al-Layyan in al-Minufiyya governorate in December 2011 . He was nominated as a "worker". He got 83,163 votes. The constituency was the only one at departmental level in which an electoral alliance between the Freedom and Justice Party and the Party of Light existed.

Al-Balkimi stated on February 28, 2012 that he was beaten up in a robbery and robbed of 100,000 Egyptian pounds (about 12,500 euros). He also confirmed this in a television interview. As a result, the director of Sheikh Zayed Hospital , a Cairo beauty clinic, came forward and alleged the injuries to al-Balkimi's face were from a nose operation that the MP had carried out in his clinic. As a result, a party expulsion process was initiated and al-Balkimi resigned from his parliamentary post on March 5. On March 29, at the request of the prosecutor, parliament lifted al-Balkimi's immunity to allow charges of misleading the judiciary.
