The Anwar al-Sadat is an amphibious assault ship and helicopter carrier of the Mistral- class . It is now in service with the Egyptian Navy .
The ship was ordered by Russia together with its sister ship Vladivostok as Sevastopol on June 17, 2011 , after a preliminary contract with France had already been concluded on February 8, 2010. In August 2015 the treaty was terminated amicably against the background of the Russian annexation of Crimea .
In September 2015 the ship was sold to Egypt together with the sister ship Gamal Abdel Nasser , originally Vladivostok .
