history
The orchestra was founded in 1953 by Willy Kronen as the chamber orchestra of the VHS Alsdorf . In 1979 it passed into the sponsorship of the city of Alsdorf and was named the Alsdorf City Orchestra . In 1998 the name was changed to Sinfonietta Regio , sponsored by Sinfonietta Regio eV
Willy Kronen
The founder and first conductor of the orchestra was the Alsdorf music teacher Willy Kronen. The line-up developed from a pure string orchestra to a chamber orchestra with wind instruments. Works from the Baroque , the Mannheim School and the Viennese Classic were performed . There was close cooperation with regional choirs and soloists.
Marius Suciu
In 1983 the professional cellist, conductor and composer Marius Suciu took over the direction. He developed the ensemble into a full symphony orchestra, thereby making it possible to perform great classical-romantic works, such as the first eight Beethoven symphonies, symphonies by Brahms , Schubert and Tchaikovsky . As a homage to the city of Alsdorf, Suciu composed the work "Solfard - Alsdorf 800", which was premiered by Sinfonietta Regio on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the city of Alsdorf.
Jeremy Hulin
Since 2008 the musical direction has been in the hands of Jeremy Hulin. After working as a conductor at the theaters in Ulm , Pforzheim and Aachen , he has been leading the opera class at the Maastricht Conservatory since 2005 . His list of conducting includes numerous premieres and awards at the Aachen Theater . Under his leadership, Sinfonietta Regio opened up to a wider repertoire and alternative forms of performance.
Structure and organization
The orchestra now consists of 60 to 70 volunteer musicians, including schoolchildren, students, professional musicians and other professionals. The age is between 14 and 79 years with an average of 44 years (as of 2020). The organization is carried out by the board of the Sinfonietta Regio eV, elected by all members. The expenses necessary for the concerts are financed by donations, membership fees and concert income.
Artistic activity
The orchestra gives around 6 to 8 concerts a year in the city region of Aachen and also receives invitations to performances in the area, e.g. B. to Mönchengladbach , Hückelhoven , Jülich , Venlo , Reims or Liège .
The repertoire includes symphonic works from the Classical, Romantic and Modern periods as well as current entertainment and film music.
The orchestra regularly works with soloists such as Georg Friedrich Schenck , Detmar Kurig and Luis Castellanos.
