Apate
Apate ( Greek Ἀπάτη Apátē ) is a daimon of Greek mythology . She is the personification of deception and deception. Their counterpart in Roman mythology is woman .
In Hesiod's theogony she is born fatherless to Nyx , in Cicero she is from Nyx and Erebos . In the Dionysiaka of Nonnos Apate of is Hera sought because they because of meeting her husband Zeus with Semele bent on revenge. Apate then gives her a belt that enables the wearer to influence the will of his counterpart. Hera uses the magic of the belt to make Semele want to see the true face of Zeus. Zeus fulfills this wish for Semele, whereupon she is killed by his shine.
The best-known pictorial representation can be found on the Perservase . The depiction shows how she tries to keep Asia away from an altar of a protective deity.
