Aporinellus is a genus of the wasps (Pompilidae). There are two types in Europe.

features

The species of the genus Aporinellus is small to medium sized, black wasps, the gray blue tomentiert are. The head and thorax are provided with fine microstructures. The inner edge of the compound eyes is concave in the middle. The frontal plate ( clypeus ) is short and wide, its apical edge is concave. The lower face and the forehead plate (clypeus) are dense, fine, closely hairy. The labrum is almost completely covered by the front plate. The mandibles have an additional tooth. The maxillary palps are elongated. The metapostnotum is covered dorsally by the metanotum so that only the lateral parts of it can be seen. The propodeum has two cone-shaped extensions posterolaterally. The tips of the forewings have a brownish band. The pterostigma is small and about as long as it is wide. The tarsi of the front legs have long tarsal ridges. All claws have small teeth. The rails ( tibia ) of the middle and rear legs have long thorns in the females, but these are only short in the males.

Way of life

The wasps colonize open, sandy habitats and forest edges. The females dig their nests in the ground. The larvae are supplied with spiders from the families Oxyopidae , Philodromidae , Salticidae and Thomisidae .
