The Appaloosa Sport Horse was a relatively young breed of horse , a result of the increasing popularity of dressage and show jumping in US equestrian circles . By crossing warm-blooded animals , it was planned to use the Appaloosa as a basis to produce a sport horse in European format. Strictly speaking, the Appaloosa Sport Horse was nothing more than an Appaloosa in the sport horse type.

At the end of June 2014 the breeding association, the Appaloosa Sport Horse Association (ApSHA), was dissolved. The registration of the horses was done by the American Warmblood Society (AWS) on July 1st, 2014.

Background information on horse evaluation and breeding can be found under: Exterior , interior and horse breeding .

Exterior

In general, the Appaloosa Sport Horse is larger and finer than its base breed . This breed has a rather small head carried on a short and slightly curved neck. The shoulder is sloping, the back short to medium length and the hindquarters muscular. Elegant and strong legs complete the picture. The colors are typical of the breed: saddlecloth, tiger and snowflake checkers in the most common coat colors. The speckled mouth and the white sclera around the eyes are also typical of Appaloosa.

interior

Like the Appaloosas, these horses are considered to be very persistent, willing to perform, sure-footed, relaxed and friendly. With their lively gaits, these horses are ideal for dressage, show jumping and eventing. The crossbreeding of warm-blooded horses has not lost its suitability as a leisure or trekking horse.
