Arūnas Mockus (born October 25, 1969 in Plungė ) is a flotilla admiral of the Lithuanian naval forces and was its commander from 2015 to 2020.

Life

Arūnas Mockus was born in 1969 in the northeast of what was then the Lithuanian SSR .

Military career

Promotions

After regaining national independence, Arūnas Mockus joined the armed forces in his home country, which were in the process of being rebuilt. In 1992 completed his training as a naval officer. After that he served from 1993 in various posts on board the frigate F11 Žemaitis .

After completing his postgraduate studies at the British Naval Academy, he took over command of the combat ship association in 1999, which was connected with the promotion to corvette captain . In 2000 he served as chief of staff with the Baltic Naval Squadron . He then attended the American Naval War College and was appointed Chief of Staff of the Naval Flotilla in 2002. From 2004 he was in command of the flotilla. In June 2010 Mockus was appointed chief of staff of the Lithuanian Navy and promoted to sea captain in November of the same year . On August 2, 2015, he replaced Kęstutis Macijauskas as commander of the naval forces. The official handover ceremony took place on July 27, 2015.

He was promoted to Flotilla Admiral on November 23, 2018 at the post of Chief of the Navy. On August 11, 2020, he handed over command of the naval forces to Giedrius Premeneckas and transferred to the staff of the armed forces.

Private

Arūnas Mockus is married. In addition to Lithuanian, he speaks English and Russian.
