The ar-Rashid mausoleum ( Persian آرامگاه الراشدبالله, IPA : ɑɾɑmɡɑh ɛ æɾɾɑʃɛdobɛllɑh ) is a historic mausoleum in Isfahan , Iran .
The mausoleum dates back to the Seljuks era and is located on the north bank of the Zayandeh Rud River next to the Pol-e Schahrestan bridge . This building is the tomb of al-Rashid , the thirtieth Caliph of the Abbasid . He left his castle and fled Baghdad to Isfahan when Mahmud of Ghazni conquered Baghdad. After two years in 1138 ar-Raschid was killed with an assassin's dagger stab . The only decorative element of the mausoleum is a stuccoed Kufi - inscription .
