Working group of German half-timbered towns

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Fachwerkstädte eV (ADF) is an association of German half-timbered towns to promote the preservation of historical urban structures. The ADF is based in Fulda .

In 1975, on the occasion of the European Year of Monument Protection, half-timbered towns initially from Hesse and Lower Saxony came together to promote the preservation of their historical urban structures by exchanging experiences and acting together. This includes the promotion of urban development , the interests of the citizens as well as the further training of the craftsmen and initiatives for financial and tax promotion. In the meantime, half-timbered towns in Thuringia , Saxony-Anhalt , Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg have also joined as members. The 130 or so member cities of the half-timbered consortium range across Germany from Stade in the north to Meersburg in the south.

Working group on the German half-timbered road

The tourism working group became the largely economically independent working group on the German half-timbered road , which has now become one of the most famous holiday routes with a total of 2,800 km in length. The office runs the Kulturstrasse and develops the marketing concept as well as the marketing instruments.

Working group on education and law

The Education & Law working group has updated the ADF model statutes, carries out the “Fachwerk macht Schule” project and develops solutions to legal questions. Another task of this working group is the “fire protection” project with corresponding seminars and the development of a brochure for cities and homeowners. In addition, the working group accompanies the triennials and works on the "reasonableness calculation" of half-timbered buildings in legal disputes.

Structural engineering working group

The construction technology working group developed seven technical instructions for craftsmen, including the guideline “The half-timbered property - acquire, repair, manage”. The working group creates flyers for house owners of half-timbered houses as well as various brochures z. B. on "Solar and photovoltaic systems". In addition, the working group accompanies Triennale 15 in the field of climate and energy.

Fachwerk sets school

In 2004 the Arge Fachwerk launched the “Fachwerk macht Schule” initiative. The aim of the initiative is to deepen the awareness for timber framing in future generations and to use timber framing as a teaching and learning subject. In particular, seminars, work equipment and the volume “Fachwerk macht Schule” are part of the support for the initiative that is now operating in many schools in Germany.

Triennial of trusses

After the successful conclusion of Triennale 09, Triennale 12 was made with the following components: Activating citizens for their city (civil society), creating opportunities and maintaining cohesion (social city), engine of economic development (the innovative city), building the city of tomorrow ( Climate protection and global responsibility), design cities better (building culture), the future of the city is carried out by the region (regionalization). Dealing with energy, ie both energy generation and all possibilities for energy saving, as well as strengthening tourism, is one of the main focuses.

In 2014 the Triennale 15 starts with the title “Impetus from the Economy”. The triennial is intended to contribute to strengthening the half-timbered towns through stimuli from the economy.

Advice and advice

In difficult legal and technical problem areas, the ADF experts advise member cities as well as half-timbered house owners and craftsmen.

In the first two decades of the ADF, the renovation technology of half-timbered buildings was one of the most important topics. Accordingly, the ADF has developed manual for craftsmen and has so far distributed a total of over 40,000 copies. In the meantime, the half-timbered cities are being challenged by more overriding problems, such as dealing with demographic developments, vacancies, vandalism and half-timbered building management. The ADF then supports its members by developing appropriate work materials.

The German Fachwerkpreis

Every five years, the ADF organizes the “Der Deutsche Fachwerkpreis” competition. The nationwide award is given for outstanding half-timbered renovations in the member cities. The next award ceremony will take place in 2015.
