Working Group of the Socialist Opposition
The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sozialistische Opposition (ASO) was a discussion group that, after the formation of the grand coalition of CDU / CSU and SPD in 1966, wanted to discuss the possibility of a political organization to the left of the SPD. It was founded in Marburg in December 1966. Its members included Eberhard Dähne , Frank Deppe , Rüdiger Griepenburg , Helmut Schauer , Kurt Steinhaus , and Frank Werkmeister .
The establishment of an action center for socialism and democracy or a left-wing socialist party was discussed. In contacts with the SDS there were differences about the inclusion of members of the banned KPD . The discussions then resulted in the formation of the Socialist Bureau .
