Recreational forest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A recreational forest is a forest area, especially in the vicinity of large urban centers, which primarily serves the recreation of the population. This type of use is given priority over planned forestry use and nature conservation .

description

Recreational forests are characterized by the fact that they are close to urban residential areas, in the vicinity of metropolitan areas or in tourist areas, which means that they function as a recreational area .

Structurally, they mostly have old trees, and are developed through a denser network of paths ( hiking , cycling and riding trails ) and have parking spaces at the edge of the forest. There is often leisure infrastructure such as seating, paths marked by name, educational forest trails , play and storage areas , and now and then also permanently installed sports equipment, sports trails , children's playgrounds , small huts , animal enclosures and cultural elements such as memorial stones .

In contrast to parks , a closed and mixed forest landscape with no continuous meadows and open spaces predominates in recreational forests .

“(1) Is there a public interest in the use of forests for recreational purposes because
a) there is a need for recreational space for the population of certain areas, in particular urban areas, which, due to its size, should be directed in an orderly manner, or
b) the creation, maintenance and design of recreational areas in tourist areas appears to be desirable,
