Working group of Catholic associations in Austria

The Working Group of Catholic Associations Austria (AKV) is the union of currently 21 Catholic associations in the Republic of Austria .

The clubs / associations are autonomous in themselves and formed a working group to represent them together in 1954, which is intended to give them more weight, especially in public and in politics.

The AKV sees itself as a working group and not as an umbrella organization. According to its statutes, the AKV has no authority to intervene in the affairs of its member associations or even their connections, let alone to pass binding resolutions.

The former State Secretary Helmut Kukacka has been President of the AKV since November 2012 .

aims

The aim is to observe the development of society and to issue statements on behalf of the Catholic lay people who are members of it. The AKV forms Curia 2 of the Catholic Lay Council of Austria .

Members

Opilio Rossi Medal

Since 1985 the AKV has been awarding the Cardinal Opilio Rossi Medal every year for services to the Catholic lay apostolate.
