The Arboretum de Pézanin is an arboretum in the French commune of Dompierre-les-Ormes . It is located in the Burgundy region between Charolles and Cluny . Every year 25,000 people visit the arboretum, making it one of the most visited places in Burgundy.

Inventory and historical overview

The arboretum extends over 27 hectares around a central lake measuring 4 hectares. The tree population includes around 450 species and subspecies.

The arboretum was founded in 1903 by the botanist Philippe Lévêque Vilmorin (1872-1917) on the grounds of the Audour Castle . After the arboretum was practically abandoned after 1923, it was taken over by the state in 1935.

Marked hiking trails open the arboretum to the general public.
