Archenbrunn is the name of a lost place in the Adelschlag municipality in the Eichstätt district .

location

history

The name refers to a well - probably with stones. In the relatively dry karst landscape of the Jura, places where the water was pushed to the surface were an important prerequisite for settlement. In 1271, a Rudgerus de Alchenbrunnen , probably a local aristocrat from Archenbrunn / Alchenbrunn , is mentioned in a document from the Eichstätt Benedictine monastery as a witness for a house handover.

For a long time, only a forester's estate remained from the aristocratic residence, which was still shown in the 18th century on maps of the prince-bishopric of Eichstätt south of Weißenkirchen . In 1633, the forester Georg Weigl died in Eichstätt, who had fled to the prince-bishop's residence from the approaching Swedes.

In the vicinity of the forester's house "Fasanerie" on the road between the villages of Pietenfeld and Ochsenfeld, underground modern wall remains have been found that probably belong to the abandoned settlement or to the former forester's estate. In Pietenfeld there is still talk of a disappeared village "above the main street".
