Archer MacLean
Archer MacLean (born January 28, 1962 ) is a British computer game developer .
In 1984 MacLean programmed Dropzone , a shoot 'em up that was a Defender clone and became a blockbuster. A year later he worked on International Karate for the Atari 400 and Atari 800 , and again a year later he programmed International Karate Plus for the Commodore 64 . MacLean programmed various snooker and pool games that began in 1991 with Jimmy White's 'Whirlwind' snooker . In 1994 MacLean created Archer MacLean's Super Dropzone for the Super Nintendo , a successor to Dropzone after ten years . Super Dropzone was ported for the PlayStation and the Game Boy Advance (2001). In 2005 Archer MacLean's Mercury came out for the PlayStation Portable . In 2009, Wheelspin (American title: SpeedZone ) was released for the Wii , which was developed under MacLean's direction.
In 1992 MacLean had a guest appearance on the British TV show GamesMaster (1992-1998) on Channel 4 , which dealt with video and computer games. MacLean also writes monthly columns for the UK's Retro Gamer magazine.
