The Arctech Helsinki Shipyard is a shipyard in Helsinki , which emerged in 2010 from a joint venture between STX Finland Cruise Oy and the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC). It is located in Hietalahti, a district of Helsinki.

history

The shipyard in Helsinki goes back to the Helsingfors Skeppsdocka company, which was founded in 1865. In 1894 it was renamed Hietalahden Sulkutelakka ja Konepaja. In 1936 the shipyard was sold to Wärtsilä .

In 1989 the company Masa-Yards was founded, which took over the shipyard. In 1991 Masa-Yards was taken over by the Norwegian Kvaerner ASA and the shipyard was renamed Kvaerner Masa-Yards. The shipyard in Turku also belonged to Kvaerner Masa-Yards . In 2004, Kvaerner Masa-Yards merged with Aker Finnyards and the company was renamed Aker Finnyards Oy. In 2006 this became Aker Yards. In 2009, STX Europe acquired Aker Finnyards.

The joint venture agreement between STX Finland Cruise Oy and the Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) to purchase 50% of the Hietalahti shipyard was signed in December 2010. The resulting Arctech Helsinki shipyard began operations on April 1, 2011. On December 30, 2014, USC took over the second half of the shares in STX Europe and was then the sole owner of the Arctech Helsinki shipyard.

In 2019 the shipyard was sold to Algador Holdings and renamed Helsinki Shipyard .
