Christof Kromp (born August 14, 1997 in Villach ) is an Austrian ice hockey striker who has been under contract with HC Innsbruck since October 2019 . He is the son of the former VSV player Wolfgang Kromp .

Career

From 2012 to 2014 Kromp played for the junior and youth teams of the VSV before he was signed by the Swedish second division club IF Troja-Ljungby in June 2014 . There he played in the U18 and U20 teams and scored 14 goals and 7 assists in 38 missions.

On June 30, 2015 Christof Kromp was selected in the second round of the CHL Import Draft in 66th place overall by the Windsor Spitfires from the Ontario Hockey League . Due to a knee injury in preparation and the foreigners restriction after signing the Norwegian Markus Søberg, Kromp had to look for alternatives and came to the Muskegon Lumberjacks from the United States Hockey League , who terminated his contract after the diagnosis of an inner ligament tear.

Since mid-December 2015, Kromp has been training again with VSV, made his debut in January 2016 and made 25 appearances by the end of the season, with the team reaching the semi-finals. He scored his first goal in the EBEL in the qualifying round against the EC KAC , followed by a second goal in the quarter-finals against the Vienna Capitals . For February 2016 he was elected EBEL YoungStar of the Month. Christof Kromp was also under contract with VSV in the 2016/17 season and made 42 appearances. In May 2017, the VSV announced a contract extension with Kromp for the 2017/18 season.

In October 2019 Kromp left the EC VSV again and was signed by HC Innsbruck to get more ice age there.

International

In April 2015 Kromp took part in the U18 Junior World Championship for Austria and won the gold medal in Division I, Group B with the team, which was followed by promotion to Group A. Kromp was named the top scorer and top scorer of the tournament. He was also the top scorer and had the best plus / minus balance. At the U20 World Cup 2017 he played with the Austrian U20 in the A group of Division I.
