Sacha Guimond (born March 28, 1991 in Ville-Marie , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Innsbruck in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2017 .

Career

Guimond played in his youth between December 2010 and spring 2012 in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights and the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec with the Drakkar de Baie-Comeau .

The defender began his professional career in the 2012/13 season with the San Francisco Bulls in the ECHL and later moved to the Gwinnett Gladiators within the league during the year . He also played six games in the American Hockey League with the Worcester Sharks and Norfolk Admirals during the season on loan . After the season he was named the ECHL's best defender . At the same time he was appointed to the ECHL All-Rookie and First All-Star Team .

On July 12, 2013, Guimond signed a one-year contract with the Utica Comets , the AHL partner of the Vancouver Canucks , but only played two games for the team. Instead, he continued to work for Gwinnett in the ECHL before being transferred to the Ontario Reign from the ECHL in January 2014 . The 2014/15 season he started with the Kalamazoo Wings in the ECHL. At the end of the season he joined the HC 05 Banská Bystrica from the Slovakian extra league . For the following game year he returned to Kalamazoo. After a second year with the Kalamazoo Wings, Guimond moved again to Europe for HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League . After a season with the dragons , he moved to HC Innsbruck .
