Arderawinny
The portal Tomb of Arderawinny ( Irish Ard Doire Mhuine ; also Carriganine Cromlech called) is located on a small flat area about 300 m north of the R592 near Toormore, ( Irish An Tuar Mór ) on the southern part of the Mizen Peninsula in County Cork in Ireland . Megalithic systems on the British Isles are called Portal Tombs , in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.
The west-east oriented structure slopes to the south. The approx. 2.0 m long, 0.8 m narrow chamber is covered by two overlapping cap stones (approx. 3.0 m × 2.5 m and 2.0 m × 1.5 m). The entrance to the Portal Tomb is in the west and is marked by two portal stones about 1.5 m high and a large door stone 1.0 m high. The sides and the back of the chamber consist of stones about 2.0 m long and 1 m high and the entire structure lies in a low, oval hill about 10 m long and 8.0 m wide, the remains of which are mainly in the west and North are visible.
The Wedge Tomb of the altar is located to the west.
