description

Ardheisker Cottage is just off the A865 on North Uist's west coast. Architecturally, the one-story cottage corresponds to the traditional building type in the Hebrides . The entrance door is located in the asymmetrically constructed, east-facing front. It is flanked by one window on the right and two on the left. The mighty masonry is not plastered, but whitewashed. It is made of quarry stone , with the building edges rounded. Chimneys tower at both ends. The building ends with a thatched roof that is secured with ropes and stones. In parallel to the cottage there is an outbuilding in the southwest, of which only the foundation walls have been preserved.
