description

A date in connection with the monograms "RS" and "CG" indicates the year of construction 1759. An annex was added in the later 18th century, possibly in 1776. The second wing was then added in the early 19th century.

Ardovie House is isolated around four kilometers southwest of Brechin. The west-facing main facade of the two-story building is three axes wide. The central entrance portal is designed with an architrave and frieze . Above this, a small triangular gable with ox-eye in the tympanum closes the facade. The wings going out to the rear are slightly lower.

The sundial west of Ardovie House dates from 1682. The monograms “RS” and “MM” are indicated. In the 19th century, the baluster that forms the shaft of the sundial was replaced. The dial is octagonal . A quarry stone wall more than 2.7 m high surrounds the square gardens to the west of the house. The two-story farmhouse to the east of the villa dates from the late 18th century. Its main facade is three acres wide. The dormer windows are of a later date.
