Shikazo Iguchi
Shikazo Iguchi (born July 8, 1889 in Shizuoka , † March 13, 1956 in Muroran ) was a Japanese civil engineer, known for contributions to plate theory.
Iguchi studied at the Imperial University of Tokyo from 1912 to 1915 and was then a state engineer in river straightening. In 1930 he became professor of hydraulic engineering at the University of Hokkaidō . From 1930 to 1932 he was studying in Germany and after returning to Tokyo did his doctorate on the bending theory of orthotropic plates . In 1949 he became a professor at the Technical University of Muroran, which he remained until his death in 1956.
In 1953 he published a mathematical analysis of the Chladnian sound figures using the plate theory by Robert Kirchhoff .
