Description and history

St. Georg is a hall building with a three-sided end and roof turret . A sacristy is built on the east side . The choir dates back to 1619, the nave was rebuilt on the occasion of the redesign in 1801/02.

The chapel goes back to a foundation by Baron Georg von Königsegg-Rothenfels in 1619. The building was originally in the Renaissance style, but has undergone major changes. In the years 1801/02 the chapel was fundamentally redesigned; The marble altar and the sandstone figures of St. George and St. Florian are from C. Dornach. Ludwig Glötzle created the paintings for the chapel.

The altar is dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary, St. Sebastian and St. Rochus. Stucco profile frames on the walls of the ship encompass four biblical scenes: Adam and Eve in Paradise, Isaac's sacrifice, the Adoration of the Shepherds, and the crucifixion of Jesus.

The vault of the choir is decorated with a representation of the raising of the daughter of Jairus. A statue of the resting Savior on the high altar was removed from the chapel after the Second Vatican Council and has been in the parish church of St. Nicholas since then .

There are several memorial plaques on and in the chapel, including those for Landwehr lieutenant Armin Frey, who died in Orléans in 1870 , and for Lorenz Weckert, a reserve lieutenant who died in Verdun in 1916 in the First World War .
