Arga de Baixo is a Portuguese place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the concelho Caminha . It is located about 16 kilometers east of Caminha in the Serra de Arga . The community had 74 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

The three main towns in the municipality are Arga, Castanheira and Barziela.

The Mosteiro de São João de Arga dates from the 13th century. The feast of the saint is celebrated annually on August 28th and 29th.

With the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Arga de Baixo, Arga de Cima and Arga de São João were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Arga (Baixo, Cima e São João) . Arga de Baixo is the seat of this newly formed community.
