Systematics

When it was first described in 1920, Auguste Chevalier used the name Coffea lemblini as a noun nudum . In 1938 the species was classified in the genus Randia . In 1958, Ronald William John Keay wrote an addition to Chevalier's description and the taxon was renamed Coffea lemblinii . In 1963 there was a transfer of the species into the genus Argocoffea by Jean-François Leroy . After a review by Elmar Robbrecht in 1981, the plant now bears the scientific name argocoffeopsis lemblinii (A.Chev.) Robbr.
