Argor-Heraeus

The Swiss company Argor-Heraeus is a Affinerie , the precious metals in bullion poured. In addition to classic bars, the company also produces coin bars , kine bars , minted bars as well as coins and medals. The company's production capacity is 800 tons of gold per year (as of 2016).

history

The company was founded in 1951 under the name Argor SA with headquarters in Chiasso . In 1953 it was transferred to UBS-Bank and in 1986 to the joint venture Argor-Heraeus SA , in which UBS and the German company Heraeus were involved. In 1988 the company headquarters was relocated to Mendrisio . In the following years the German Commerzbank and the Austrian Mint participated in the company.

At the beginning of the 2010s, Argor-Heraeus faced allegations of having processed conflict gold in the 2000s . The Federal Prosecutor's Office then initiated an investigation, which was discontinued in March 2015.

According to media reports, the company was up for sale in 2016.

In April 2017, Heraeus took over all shares in the company, which continues to operate as Argor-Heraeus.
